Remember that part of the grant money you receive must be spent on lesson plans to be prepared by teachers. More about this later—for now you should know that the lesson plans will be collected and published by PACERS and that there will be a small stipend for lesson plans that meet the basic criteria for the project.

If the garden project is to reach its full potential it will have to be a part of the regular school day–not simply after school or an occasional add on. We need lesson plans that connect learning in the garden especially to the Alabama Course of Study. I’m confident that teachers can prepare excellent plans that can be made available throughout PACERS and that can help make the case for science instruction that is hands-on and consequential.
